Horse Speak, Stress-Free Obstacle Play and Horse Agility combine to create this refreshing, fun, and unique clinic opportunity in beautiful Bostic, North Carolina. Join Senior Horse Speak Clinician and Horse Agility Accredited Trainer Heidi Potter as she shares the “Truly Authentic Language of Horses”, deepening your understanding of how to address what each horse values most at any given moment. This knowledge has led horse lovers across the globe, of all levels, and disciplines, to discover deeper rapport, and safer, calmer, more enjoyable relationships. Experience the benefits of a renewed partnership whether your horse is in your backyard, joins you on the road to events, or is part of a therapy, rescue, or riding program.
Horses (& Cows;) are Provided: Learning from Mountain Horse Farm’s herd and taking those lessons home to your horses has proven to facilitate the best learning environment.
Horse Speak – Everything horses say to each other they say to us. Heidi will teach you how to begin “listening” with your eyes and respond in a way the horse can understand. Learn to imitate the horses’ language system of Gestures, Postures, Signals, and Breath Messages. Discover how self-awareness, mindfulness, and state of mind affect horses’ behavior and your overall relationship with them. Learn what is needed to safely and quietly establish mutual respect, deepen trust, help horses overcome trauma, modify undesirable behaviors, and reach the level of rapport that dreams are made of. A few basic “vocabulary words”, a willingness to listen, and an open heart and mind are all you need to enter the conversation. Learning Horse Speak will forever change how you see and interact with all horses.
Horse Agility & Stress-Free Obstacle Play– Learn the sport of Horse Agility (in-hand obstacle play) based on the International Horse Agility Club of England. Take your Horse Speak skills to in-hand conversations, focusing on moving together in harmony and balance. Learn how to keep the horse in the “curiosity” state of learning, avoiding the “fear” state as you navigate obstacles, work on connection, confidence and trust.
This clinic includes workshops in theory, interactive exercises with humans, herd observation, self-awareness practices, interpretation, and communication with horses at liberty and in-hand. This is a non-riding clinic.
